Chapter 1: Episode

"Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" was writer Darin Morgan's last script for The X-Files. Amazingly funny and outlandish, the episode also features a complex, weird, hard-to-follow plotline, and so it requires several viewings to be somewhat understandable. It is a brilliant episode and one of my favorites from Season 3.

In the episode, the famous author Jose Chung plans on writing a "non-fiction science fiction" novel. For research, he uses one of Mulder and Scully's recent cases, interviewing witnesses and parties involved, including Scully. As Jose Chung tells Scully, truth is subjective. Throughout the episode, we see various points of view and different versions on the events surrounding the apparent alien abduction of two teenagers.
